Olympic Swimmer Turns Self In Tuesday

Sponsored by:

27-year-old Olympic swimmer Tammy Crow has begun her sentence for two counts of vehicular manslaughter.

Television cameras from the Oprah Winfrey Show and Inside Edition were there yesterday morning as Crow turned herself in at the Tuolumne County Jail.

Crow was driving her boyfriend, 26-year-old Cody Tatro, and 12-year-old passenger Brett Slinger, when she crashed on Highway 108 east of Long Barn.

Both Tatro and Slinger were killed in the crash and Crow admitted to CHP officers she´d been drinking five hours prior to the crash.

A subsequent blood alcohol test indicated no alcohol in Crow´s blood three hours after the wreck.

Officials say, based on prison crowding and behavior, Crow could be released as soon as December 13th.

Crow was part of the U.S.´s bronze-medal-winning synchronized swim team in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
