Wreck Near Oakdale Leaves Teen Dead, Four Hurt

Sponsored by:

A teenager was killed last night between Oakdale and Escalon, after the CHP says horsing around while driving led to a rollover wreck.

The name of the 16-year-old girl who was killed has not been released by the CHP, but we know the name of the driver, 18-year-old Jack Talamantes.

He and four others were driving northbound on Valley Home Road north of Highway 120 when passengers started to play with a plush football.

During the horseplay, the 23-year-old right front passenger apparently grabbed the steering wheel causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway, spin around, and finally roll over several times.

Two passengers were not wearing seat belts and were ejected.

One of them, a 16-year-old female, suffered blunt force injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

The three others in the vehicle had only minor injuries. All of the occupants were from Oakdale.

The CHP reminds drivers to always wear your seatbelt, especially in wet weather with slippery roads.
