Forest Homes’ Required Clearance Upped to 100 Feet

There are new fire rules to report for folks with houses in forest areas. The rules take effect starting tomorrow.
The current rules require 30 feet of space free of brush and flammable vegetation around homes. The new law will more than triple the requirement to 100 feet of clearance around forest homes.
Inspections don´t start until May, but fire officials say this is the time of year to start the process of clearing brush and vegetation.
