Ron Arington Killed In Ranch Accident

The Sonora ag and education community mourning today. Retired high school agriculture teacher Ron Arington who won the hearts of thousands of students, accolades from his counterparts and awards from various organizations, died Saturday of injuries suffered in a ranching accident in Tuolumne County.

The Modesto Bee is reporting Arington´s fatal accident came when he and his wife Teri were helping friends with chores Friday on a ranch in Chinese Camp. Running cattle suddenly appeared, spooking the mule that Ron Arington was riding. He was thrown into a pile of rocks.

He was taken by helicopter to Modesto, where he died on Saturday. He was 58.

A memorial service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Tuolumne County Posse Grounds off Rawhide Road in Jamestown.
