School Bond Looks Promising

Sponsored by:

Those working on the Mark Twain Union Elementary School district´s latest bond campaign — they call it Measure K for Kids — say they´re seeing strong support for the proposed $9.6 million bond measure this time around.

More than five years ago, voters in the district rejected bond measures that would have generated more than $5 million for needed projects.

If the measure passes, the district plans to build a new elementary — middle school in Copperopolis, a new, 10,000-square-foot gymnasium at Mark Twain elementary and a new district maintenance and warehouse facility.

Property owners would pay an extra $30 a year in taxes for every $100,000 of assessed value.for someone who own a $150,000 home ….they would see a bill of $45 a year in additional new taxes.
