The Calaveras County Women´s Network (CCWN) in conjunction with the Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) will be awarding grants to women hoping to start or expand a business in the County. Applications can be requested starting March 1.

CCWN is comprised of businesswomen throughout the County and has as its goal the encouragement and support of emerging or existing women owned businesses in Calaveras County. It is one of several agencies that has established a fund under the CCF umbrella.

Those wishing to be considered for a CCWN grant should request a packet of information from CCF by calling Trudy Lackey at 736-1845 or writing the Foundation at PO Box 1436, Angeles Camp CA 95222. Completed applications must be returned by March 31.

Grant requests must be for a specific, tangible, program or project that would create or improve a business. The grants are not designed to reduce existing debt or pay for licensing fees or similar start-up expenses. Programs or projects must be completed with the grant funds or available matching funds within three months of the award date.

The Calaveras Community Foundation, dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the quality of life in all areas of Calaveras County, is an umbrella organization headed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of eleven residents of the county´s diverse communities who possess specific professional skills. Its functions fall into two basic categories, the awarding of grants to local groups and the managing of charitable funds for individuals and organizations.

In addition to the Calaveras County Women´s Network, organizations that have funds administered by CCF include the Calaveras County Arts Council, Humane Society of Calaveras County, Murphys Business Association, and the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum.
