County Supervisor College Guest Speaker

Sponsored by:

Mark Thornton, a third term Tuolumne County supervisor and historian, will be the guest speaker at next week´s Columbia College Community Education class on Tuolumne: Past & Present. Thornton´s presentation will be on the greater Groveland region and he will show some slides of eastern Don Pedro along Hwy 120 to the Hetch-Hetchy Reservoir.

His rare photos depict once inhabited grounds with buildings that are now located underwater. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions about the Groveland area, which is often overlooked in coverage of Tuolumne County topics.

The class will be held on Monday, Mar. 15 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at the Senior Center (Room C) at 540 Greenley Road in Sonora. It is open to the public, and Supervisor Thornton will be introduced by Dr. Jim Riggs, Columbia College president. For more information, call the Community Education Office at 588-5144.
