A new trial date has been set for Arlin Dale Crawford, the 40-year-old Avery man accused of killing Bradford Lavelle Davis, 52, and dropping his body at White Pines Lake. Trial has been scheduled for 10 a.m. July 8.

Public defender Cyril Ash asked Judge John Martin on Monday for the new date, saying he had only recently received a lengthy witness list and was still waiting for blood and fingerprint analysis results.

Deputy District Attorney Barbara Yook did not object to Ash´s request, noting her office also had several interview tapes to go through and adding that the case was still evolving.

Davis´s body was discovered July 6. He had been shot in the back and the back of the head, according to authorities, who believe he was killed at his mobile home in Avery on July 2.
