TGH Board Looks At Closing Fiscal Gap

Closing the gap on the deficit is on the agenda for the Tuolumne General Hospital board of directors this afternoon.

During the past year, the county-run medical facility in Sonora has been slowly pulling in the losses, and eliminating the funding received by way of loans from the county for operating and budget shortfalls..

In early 2003, County officials predicted the annual deficit could be as high as $2.7 million. January of this year, Tuolumne County Supervisors heard from Tuolumne General Hospital Administrator Barry Woerman and chief financial officer Kent Johnson presented their updated Financial Recovery Plan, saying at that time projections for the second half of the current fiscal year showed a budgeted negative cash flow of almost $600,000.

Updated projection at the end of the fiscal year is expected to be in the range of $500,000 – to – $800,000.

As the end of the fiscal year drawn near, the hospital board today looks at ways to close the dificit gap, then will forward those recommendations to the county board of Supervisors for review in two weeks.
