Calaveras Humane Society Looking For Donations

Sponsored by:

In an effort to hasten the day when there will be no more homeless pets, the Calaveras Humane Society established a fund within the Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) to receive donations from individuals and businesses wanting to help achieve this goal.

Now, through the generosity of a few major donors, all gifts to the fund will be matched, thereby doubling the effectiveness of the contributions. There is a $4,500 limit to the match.

“We know we have a long way to go to assure that all cats and dogs have a safe, loving, forever home,” states Mickey Williamson, president of the Society. “Our county is currently euthanizing 54 percent of the dogs

and 81 percent of the cats in the Animal Control shelter. There is not enough room in the shelter and not enough people are coming forward to adopt the animals. Even though these statistics have continually improved over the last five years we are committed to the day when there are no more homeless pets.”

By housing its fund within CCF the society can concentrate on raising the necessary money rather than administering the fund.

The stated purpose of the fund is “To support Humane Society projects aimed at solving the pet overpopulation problem in Calaveras County.”

Some of these projects are the spay or neuter incentive program, humane education in the local schools, the building of a new animal shelter, and an expansion of rescue efforts.

“We are delighted to be a part of the Calaveras Community Foundation as it gathers community resources to solve community problems,” says Williamson. “This partnership will enable us to help more animals.”

Checks made out to the Calaveras Community Foundation, designating the Calaveras Humane Society Fund as the recipient, may be sent to PO Box

1436, Angels Camp CA 95222. For further information contact CCF Executive Director Trudy Lackey at 736-1845. Like all CCF funds, and all contributions to the Calaveras Humane Society, donations are fully tax deductible.

The Humane Society has joined a growing list of community organizations that have established funds with CCF. Others include the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum, the Calaveras County Women´s Network, the Friends of the Copperopolis Library, the Murphys Business Association, and the Save the Romaggi Adobe.

The Calaveras Community Foundation is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the quality of life in all areas of Calaveras County through a program of charitable grants. Contributions to CCF are tax

deductible and contributors may designate specific organizations or areas of interest to receive funds. CCF also manages charitable trusts on behalf of individuals and agencies.
