Fire officials say the wildland fire yesterday off Highway 108 and Wheeler Road in the Sierra Village / Mi Wuk Village area was caused by an escaped debris burn.

County Fire Marshal Kari Hubbard says that blaze at Rebecca Road blacken 2-acres. Today, firefighters continue to be on scene for mop up operations.

A Groveland fire along old Highway 120 is under investigation. Hubbard says the fire burnt a total 2 acres of heavy brush and timber: 1-1/2 acres in the original fire and an additional 1/2 acre from a second spot fire that broke out.

Cause of a fire at Deutschman Lumber Company on Loungeway Road in the Soulsbyville yesterday afternoon is still undetermined. Hubbard says the blaze broke out just before 3 p.m. and destroyed $2,000 of lumber. There were no injuries and the flames did not spread to surrounding wildland. Fire officials say the blaze was contained about 40 minutes later and turned over to property owners.
