Pork Recall Affects California

Sponsored by:

California is one of several states affected tonight by a voluntary pork recall.

Wichita, Kansas-based Excel Corporation today issued a voluntary recall notice for about 54-thousand pounds of a flavored pork product because of a labeling omission.

The spice mix for the company´s Garlic and Herb Flavored Fresh Pork contains nonfat dried milk, which can cause an allergic reaction in some people.

The milk is not listed on the ingredients list, however.

The company says no illnesses have been reported.

The recalled pork was packaged between September 11th, 2003, and May 28th.

The packages carry “use by or freeze by” dates on or before June 25th.

Excel is a subsidiary of Cargill Incorporated that produces beef and pork.
