Local Winemaker Praises New Interstate Shipping Laws As Huge Benefit

Sponsored by:

Murphys, CA — New laws enacted by individual states allowing direct interstate wine shipments from wineries to consumers will mean a boost in business to local vintners.

Steve Kautz of Ironstone Vinyards says the new regulations will also allow winemakers to make more effective use of the internet.

Kautz calls the new laws a”huge benefit” for everyone in the foothill region, even though the regulations in some states are slow in taking hold.

He says many customers in other states use the internet to research new wine producing regions and the technology gives them an opportunity to become familiar with and purchase wines from the local area that may not be available at retailers elsewhere.

Kautz says the new interstate wine laws will mean an increase in production of reserve wines because those brands are the most requested.

He adds that it has been a good holiday season for his winery and internet sales are increasing every month as new states become open.
