Public Response Saves The Day For Community Dinner

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Residents of the Mother Lode have once again answered the call to action.

After a turkey shortage threatened to put a damper on this year´s annual Community Christmas Eve Dinner at the fairgrounds, hundreds of community members have stepped forward with donations.

Organizer Cathie Peacock says the Diestel Turkey Ranch came through with about 600 pounds of turkey for the event.

Peacock says so many people responded so quickly that the needed number of Christmas birds was gathered in the span of about a half hour this morning.

She says the involvement of the Diestel family year after year has been such a huge help in presenting the community dinner.

Other major contributors include Black Oak Casino and SKS Properties in Sonora.
