Sierra Railroad Gains Approval For New Oakdale Station

Oakdale, CA — The Sierra Railroad Dinner Train has been given the go-ahead to move its Oakdale station after Monday night´s City Council meeting.
The panel voted unanimously to approve a revised design plan which includes moving the station to a new location about a block south of the present one.
The new plan includes a new overhang over 80 feet of a 340-foot platform. The main station will be operated out of five parked rail cars.
The railroad had originally planned to make the move this month, but the design delays will move that date back to sometime in March.
Railroad officials say they most likely have an agreement with the buyer of the old station to allow operations to stay there until then.
