Gas Prices Stabilize As Winter Approaches

Sponsored by:

San Francisco, CA — The American Automobile Association of Northern California reports a continued decline in the price of gas.

Analysts say the statewide average price for a gallon of self-serve unleaded has fallen to $2.29. That figure is 32 cents less than a month ago, but 10 cents more than last year.

AAA says the rate of decline in gas costs has slowed to about two cents a week, which means prices are stabilizing.

Experts say the recent strengthening of crude oil and wholesale gas prices will likely keep prices from dipping to the $2 mark by the beginning of the new year as many analysts had predicted.

AAA says crude prices could see an increase after OPEC´s announcement that production levels will remain at present levels, in addition to the onset of cold winter weather.

The nationwide average price is down to $2.18 a gallon.
