Millions Of Californians Plan Holiday Travel

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — A recent survey by the American Automotive Association of Northern California indicates that 4.6 million Californians plan to travel at least 50 miles from home over the holiday.

Analysts say that will be an increase of 4.6% over last year. The numbers show that 81% of those traveling plan to drive, while 14% expect to fly to their destinations. The remainder of those travelers say they will travel by bus, train or motorcycle.

AAA says that even though gas prices are on the decline, they are still up about 17 cents-a-gallon over a year ago. Other costs, such as hotel rooms and car rentals are also up.

More than half of those surveyed say they plan to visit friends or relatives this Thanksgiving.

Nationwide, more than 37 million Americans plan to travel more than 50 miles from home.
