Snow Fall Causes Road Closures In High Country

Sonora, CA — Storm activity in the Mother Lode has caused transportation officials to close several passes to the east.
Reports indicate Highway 108 is closed 26 miles east of Strawberry to 5 miles west of U.S. 395. Highway 120 at Tioga Pass is on a precautionary closure, which means that it is dangerous to travel to highter elevations, due to the possibility of getting stranded.
CalTrans officials are advising chains on Highway 4 through Ebbets pass. Several roads in Yosemite National Park have also been closed. Officials say the snow will continue fall for the next few days and they are unsure whether the passes will re-open.
