Forecasters Warn Of Winter Conditions In Upper Sierras

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — Weather forecasters are warning mountain travelers of potentially hazardous driving conditions in the Sierra Nevadas over the next few days.

A series of pacific weather systems is expected to move through the northern part of the state bringing snow and winds to the upper elevations.

Forecasters say snow levels will begin at about the 8000 foot mark and drop to about 6500 feet in the northern Sierras by tomorrow afternoon.

Another system is expected to move through Thursday, followed by a third system Friday.

The National Weather Service warns mountain travelers to be prepared for winter driving conditions by carrying chains and checking the latest road and weather conditions before setting out.
