CDF May Charge County More For Services

The California Department of Forestry may charge Tuolumne County up to a half-million dollars more for its services next year.
CDF officials say increased operational costs, more overtime and benefits are driving up the price of their services. Tuolumne County paid about $950,000 last year for the CDF´s fire fighting services. The estimated cost for next year is projected to leap to $1.4-million. The CDF provides a variety of important emergency services in the Mother Lode. The Board of Supervisors will hold a public meeting in mid-March to discuss its options, including the possibility of terminating he contract with the CDF and going to an all-county Fire Department.
