Boxer, Feinstein Honor Matsui

The late Congressman Robert Matsui will soon have a Sacramento courthouse named after him.

U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein have authored legislation that will commemorate Matsui by having the U.S. Courthouse in the river city named after him.

“By naming a federal courthouse in his honor, his memory will be kept alive for the people he served.”

The legislation cleared the Senate last Thursday. A political icon in Northern California for decades, Matsui died last month. Boxer says Matsui devoted his life to protecting civil rights and serving his constituents. Matsui was instrumental in obtaining more than $142 million in federal funding for the Courthouse.

The bill now goes to Congress for approval.
