Occupational Olympics on March 10th In Columbia

High school students from Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties will be able to apply what they have learned at the 18th Annual Occupational Olympics, to be held on Thursday, Mar. 10. That´s when more than 200 students will converge on the Columbia College campus to participate in several highly competitive demonstrations. This is the fifth year that the event has been held at the college and all activities will run from 9 am until 1:30 pm.

Among the participating schools are Sonora High, Summerville High, Bret Harte High and Calaveras High. The Occupational Olympics was organized for high school students, ranging in ages from 16 and up. There is no cost to enter and the categories for this year´s competition are: Automotive Technology, Child Development, Computer Business Applications, Computer Assisted Drafting, Cosmetology, Digital Photography, Food Services, Floral Design, Law Enforcement, Photography and Welding Technology. The Occupational Olympics program gives students an opportunity to showcase their work kills and pit their talents against the best in the region.
