Several Restrictions In Effect Due To High Fire Danger

Sponsored by:

Stanislaus, CA– Due to the high fire danger in the Mother Lode, there are several restrictions to everyday activities that may not seem dangerous.

Mandated through both the California Department of Forestry and the Forest Service, campfire building is restricted above the elevation of 6000 feet.

Stanislaus National Forest official Jerry Snyder says smoking is prohibited on forest land except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped at least three feet in diameter that is away from all flammable material.

Lastly, work such as welding or operating internal combustion engines such as chain saws on Forest land are prohibited.

Snyder adds although exceptions can be made by permit, people should still use a great deal of caution and care when enjoying Forest land.
