Saturday Chinese Camp Fire

Chinese Camp, CA — An afternoon vegetation fire struck the Chinese Camp area today.
The initial report to the Hwy 49-Yosemite St. fire was registered at 1:23. One acre was lost along with an historic barn reported to be between 120-130 years old by C.D.F.´s Dennis Townsend. Total containment took approximately 90 minutes.
No injuries were reported. While the investigation continues, the initial cause of the fire according to Townsend is thought to be an electrical service drop at the barn. Several residents in the Chinese Camp area lost power to their pump stations.
Traffic was also delayed in the immediate area.
