Mariposa County Health & Human Services details: Long-term effects from COVID-19 (Long COVID) infections can impact many different parts of the body – even without severe symptoms with the initial infection. Approximately 1 in 5 adults (ages 18+) currently have a health condition that might be related to their previous COVID-19 illness. This could include neurological conditions, kidney failure, respiratory conditions, vascular issues and more.

If you are currently experiencing Long COVID or think you may be, here are some resources: http://ow.ly/q48C50JJXSs, http://ow.ly/BuYq50JJXNa. Long COVID can be a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) if it substantially limits one or more major life activities. Contact Disability Info and Assistance Line here or at 1-888-677-1199

There are positive actions we can take to protect ourselves and those around us from illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19:

  • Get Vaccinated (including a booster)
  • Wear a mask in public
  • Keep your distance and avoid crowds when possible
  • Wash hands and clean surfaces frequently
  • Stay home when sick

Help slow the spread of Covid-19 by self-isolating when you have symptoms or a positive test result. Also, notify any close contacts you’ve had from 2 days before you became ill or got tested. Any close contacts should follow current quarantine guidance and get tested 3-5 days after exposure. If you are at high risk of severe disease or hospitalization, you can contact your doctor to discuss potential treatment options. If you are not symptomatic, have not tested positive for COVID-19 recently, and are not in quarantine, get vaccinated or boosted.
