There are several charitable events in the Mother Lode this weekend.

There is a rummage sale from 10am to 3pm this Saturday at Tuolumne Veterans Memorial Hall to benefit the Machados. Brian Machado works at Black Oak Casino but Mende is foregoing treatment for her multiple sclerosis to be sure there is enough money to treat their three children. Kymberlee, 17, has diabetes, she graduated from Summerville High School’s independent study program. Matthew, 16, is a sophomore at Summerville High and played football but is now on independent study to control his diabetes. Mende Machado says, “Hopefully, they will both get everything regulated soon.” Cody, 9, is in the third grade at Summerville Elementary School. He is seriously ill with Coffin-Lowry syndrome. Another family from Sonora, the Hinman’s, also face extreme family medical expenses. They have moved to Oregon to await a heart transplant for the husband and father of the family. Their sons endured bone marrow transplants to treat one son’s Aplastic Anemia at age 5 and again at 17. To donate to their cause visit gofundme.com

Chairs for Charity will be held in San Andreas. The Calaveras County Arts Council and Soroptimist International of Calaveras County are collaborating to auction off 30 chairs. 10 entries will be sold via live auction the rest by silent auction. Tickets are sold out but people may still come to the auction starting at 6:30pm for $10. Event details are here.

The Sonora High School’s winter play opened on Wednesday night and is showing tonight and Saturday at 7:30pm. There will also be a Saturday afternoon showing at 2:00pm, all performances are held in the auditorium. The play is a murder mystery called “Death by Arrangement”.

Friends of the Amador County Library will host the 3rd annual “Boots ‘n Books” at 2:00pm on Sunday, at the American Legion Hall in Sutter Creek. The event has sold out the past 2 years, for ticket information view the event listing.

Bret Harte FFA is selling Stockton Thunder hockey tickets for anyone who wants them. They are $10 per ticket for this Saturday’s game at 7:30pm. Details are in the event listing here.
