A Citizen Aided In A Drug Bust

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — A citizen’s report of a possible DUI ended in a tire being slashed.

It happened yesterday at 10 a.m. in Tuolumne County. The CHP reports a woman alerted them to a possible drunk driver in a Chevy Colorado truck on Tuolumne Road. She continued to follow the truck, when suddenly it stopped, a passenger got out and slashed her tire. As the truck took off, she was able to give officers the license plate number. She also told them three people were in the car including a female driver.

A CHP officer spotted the truck turning north onto Standard Road and pulled it over. Inside the truck, was the driver 27-year-old Stephanie Louise Foster of Mi-Wuk Village and right front passenger 24-year-old Edward Lee Jones of Sonora. The CHP says officers ordered Jones to get out of the truck and when he did, a meth pipe fell from his lap.

Jones was arrested and searched. Officers found another meth pipe in his right pants leg and 2.2 grams of heroin in his jacket. Foster was also arrested for having a loaded firearm in the truck along with marijuana in a pipe.

The suspects told officers there was a third person in the truck, but they dropped him off at Blue Bell Road. The CHP says he is 31-year-old Wesley Murray. The suspects claimed Murray slashed the woman’s tire.

The CHP has not been able to locate Murray so they are asking for the public’s help. He is a white male, 5’10” tall, 175 lbs, with blonde hair and blue eyes. The tire slashing case has been turned over to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department. If you have any information on Murray call them at (209) 533-5815.
