Still High Fire Danger

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA – The temperatures are cooler and rain has fallen, but Cal Fire officials want to remind you burning is still suspended in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.

Spokesperson Nancy Longmore says, “As soon as we get a little bit of rain people think it’s okay to burn. That’s not the case. It is still pretty dry.”

Longmore warns fire danger remains high across the region and it only takes one day of dry winds to bring the threat back to extreme. She says the Rim Fire has not deterred some from lighting up burn piles even though we are still under a burn ban. Longmore stresses there is no date set to lift the suspension; that would be up to Mother Nature.
