Community Open House For Vision Sonora

Sponsored by:

The Vision Sonora plan has been in the works for several months and now the city is ready for the general public to have their first look and gather reaction at a community open house.

Rachelle Kellogg, Community Development Director for the City of Sonora, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Kellogg says an open house is scheduled for Tuesday October 1st from 4-7pm at the Sonora Opera Hall, where the community can see the latest draft and gather reaction.

Light refreshments will be served and the there will be a gift card raffle.

The final plan will go before the Sonora City Council for approval in November.

Vision Sonora is designed to provide a roadmap to improve the mobility and appearance of the downtown district. This includes public parking, trails around town, outdoor restaurant seating, additional trees and improvments to the overall appearance of Stockton and Washington Streets.

“People can come and go as they please at the open house,” says Kellogg. “There will be no central speaker or single address to the crowd.”

The plan will be used as a guide, and used to help secure grant funding to construct the projects.

The Vision Sonora effort is being overseen by the City of Sonora and Tuolumne County Transportation Council. Funding for the project came from a $225K state grant.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45am
