Rim Fire Winding Down

Sponsored by:

Tuolumne County, CA — This morning the Rim Fire is still estimated to be 84% contained and is 257,126 acres.

The Incident Command reports that the 0.6 inches of rainfall that fell on Saturday helped reduce fire activity and spread. With the cooler temperatures projected for today, and higher humidity, fire behavior should be limited to isolated smoldering. The IC reports that there is still some slight spread in the Yosemite and Emigrant Wilderness areas, which is why they are not calling the fire fully contained.

Temperatures within the perimeter of the fire will be in the 60’s and 70’s during the afternoon hours. 1,201 firefighters are on scene this morning. The cost to battle the fire is now up to $122 million.
