Bomb kills 7 in northwest Pakistan
PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) -- Pakistani police say a bomb in a motorized rickshaw has exploded near a police facility in a northwestern city, killing seven.
Police official Iqbal Khan says another 10 were wounded in the Sunday blast in Kohat, which borders lawless tribal areas near the Afghan border.
Pakistani Taliban militants have been waging a bloody war against the state in a bid to overthrow the government and enforce their own harsh brand of Islamic Shariah law.
Northwestern provincial police chief Nasir Durrani says security forces have been conducting anti-insurgent operations in the area.
Pakistan's government started peace talks with the Taliban, but negotiations were suspended after the killing of 23 soldiers by a faction of the militant group.
