San Diego policeman charged with sexual battery
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- A San Diego police officer has been charged with sexually assaulting women while on duty.
Prosecutors say 30-year-old Christopher Hays was charged Tuesday with a felony -- false imprisonment by menace -- and misdemeanor sexual battery. If convicted of all charges, he could face up to three years and eight months in prison.
Hays, who's free on bail, is charged with fondling or assaulting four women in his patrol car last year.
The four-year police veteran has been on unpaid leave since his Feb. 9 arrest.
U-T San Diego (http://bit.ly/N6WMIx ) says Hays has denied the allegations through an attorney.
