Longtime Swift exec new publisher of The Union
GRASS VALLEY, Calif. (AP) -- A newspaper executive who has worked more than 20 years for Swift Communications, including publications in Colorado, Oregon and at Lake Tahoe, is the new publisher of The Union newspaper in Grass Valley and the Nevada County Publishing Co.
Swift Communications President Bob Brown announced the hiring of Jim Hemig, first reported Monday by The Union (http://tinyurl.com/laf473o).
Hemig had been director of advertising and print production operations since 2007 for the newspaper chain based in Carson City, Nev. He started as production manager for the Sierra Sun in Truckee in 1992, and worked at the Tahoe Daily Tribune in South Lake Tahoe, The News-Review in Roseburg, Ore., and the Colorado Mountain News Media Production Facility in Gypsum, Colo.
Former publisher Dave Schmall resigned last year to explore other opportunities.
