Snedeker back and hopeful of staying healthy
KAPALUA, Hawaii (AP) -- Brandt Snedeker starts a new year in golf with hopes of avoiding an old problem -- staying healthy.
Snedeker is playing the Tournament of Champions this week at Kapalua. It's his first tournament in two months after a freak accident in Shanghai, where he tumbled off a Segway scooter while driving down a fairway during a corporate outing.
He says the knee is fine, and he spent last week in Palm Springs, Calif., walking 18 holes and carrying his own bag. The real test will be walking 18 holes at Kapalua when the tournament starts Friday.
Snedeker missed part of the last two years with a rib injury. He has had surgery on both hips. He says he has not had an injury-free year since he was a rookie in 2007.
