BART officer is shot and killed at CA residence
DUBLIN, Calif. (AP) -- A Bay Area Rapid Transit police officer has been shot and killed in the line of duty.
BART Police Chief Kenton Rainey and BART General Manager Grace Crunican said in a statement Tuesday afternoon that the officer sustained wounds during a shooting just after 1 p.m.
The officer was shot doing a probation search in the City of Dublin and was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, Rainey and Crunican said.
His identity and other details are not being released at this time, they said.
The Dublin Police Department has taken over the investigation.
