Deep freeze dampens tailgates before Packers game
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- A deep freeze has settled over Wisconsin for the 49ers-Packers wild-card game.
It was 6 degrees about two hours before the game, with a wind chill of minus-11. Temperatures were expected to drop through the day.
The game at 80,000-plus capacity Lambeau Field is sold out. But with the meat-locker conditions putting a damper on tailgating, many fans had to find other ways to celebrate before the game.
One group of bundled-up fans tailgated in front of an outdoor fire pit in a driveway. Another couple set up a hunting blind behind their pickup truck and cozied up beside a propane heater.
