Sandra Fluke plans run for California Senate seat
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A woman whom radio personality Rush Limbaugh once branded a "slut" says she plans to run for the California Senate.
The Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/1eyIY3S ) says attorney and activist Sandra Fluke is looking at the seat currently held by Ted Lieu.
Lieu, a Torrance Democrat, has announced he'll run for the seat of retiring Congressman Henry Waxman.
Fluke had said she was considering seeking Waxman's seat but told the Times she thinks she'd accomplish more in the state Legislature.
Fluke, a Democrat, was a law student in 2012 when she testified to Congress in favor of mandatory insurance coverage for birth control. Limbaugh called her a slut, but later apologized.
