SF Bay Area news company names new leader
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- The Bay Area News Group of 11 daily newspapers, including the Contra Costa Times, the Oakland Tribune and the San Jose Mercury News, has a new leader.
Sharon Ryan was named president and publisher on Monday, replacing Steve Rossi, who was recently named chief operating officer of Digital First Media, the news group's New York-based parent company that operates 75 daily newspapers across the U.S. and hundreds of multi-platform products reaching 67 million people in 18 states.
The San Jose Mercury News reports (http://bit.ly/1g0e7O7 ) that Ryan will continue to serve as chief financial officer of California Newspapers Partnership, which she joined in 2007.
Ryan has held executive positions at the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the San Luis Obispo Tribune. She began her newspaper career at the Chicago Tribune.
