LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Authorities say a Los Angeles police detective was treated for injuries after a murder suspect threw a chair in court that knocked her down.
The Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/LbBkkv ) says Jesus Mendez was appearing in a downtown courtroom on Tuesday when he tossed the chair about 15 feet. It hit the detective in the head and upper body and also grazed a prosecutor.
The detective was treated at a medical center.
It's unclear how Mendez was able to grab the chair.
He's charged with shooting to death a man during a 2012 robbery. He's being held without bail.
