Man killed was involved in previous fatal shooting
OXNARD, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say a 23-year-old man who was shot and killed in Oxnard was apparently involved in a fatal shooting last year.
The Ventura County Star reports (http://bit.ly/1mGVcd8 ) Austin Martin died at a hospital Tuesday, two days after he was found on a street with a gunshot wound to the head.
No arrests have been made, and investigators say it remains unclear what led up to the incident.
Martin was involved in a fatal shooting on the same Oxnard street in December. Police say he apparently acted in self-defense when he shot 29-year-old Jackie Williams.
Martin was not arrested or charged for Williams' death. He apparently called 911 and was cooperative in the investigation.
The two were acquaintances, and police say the Williams shooting was still under investigation when Martin died.
