The cost of this program is $2495. That is ludacrist!!! Only in California where everything is overpriced! What a GIANT SCAM!
What is the cost of ignorance? Challenging young minds is the hope of the future. I know there is a virulent strain of anti-intellectualism here in the foothills but to call a program to help encourage young people to develop their interest in the natural science "a giant scam" is indeed "ludicrous". Just think how much meth and alcohol that $2495 could buy.
It runs about $178 a day for food, lodging, equipment, transportation, educational programs and field research in one of the world's premier National Parks. Plenty of people spend far more than that just to get a sunburn and chemically zap some brain cells while sitting on a beach learning nothing.
Fortunately there is a program like this, among others, that gets students outdoors exploring and thinking about our planet.
