Grazing cost the taxpayers millions of dollars a year to fund. That cost would go away. Also, recently the ranchers are asking for $200,000 to repair damage from the Rim Fire. Getting the Ranchers out of the forest is a cost savings to us the taxpayers and a health benefit to the forest.
This is from a recent study:
"new report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) concludes that the federal government spends at least $144 million each year managing private livestock grazing operations on publicly owned land but collects only $21 million in grazing fees-for a net loss of at least $123 million per year."
This government is full of idiots.
public is 3% comment..Federal government 97%..on frogs..OK young folks..figure out this problem.Lost your freedom over a frog.
Destroy the Last Freedom's and Enjoyment Americans have, over a Frog that was toasted by the fire. It was the envirowhack's that insisted the natural habitat not be burned for ecological reasons. Natural Compost went up in flames! Design and destroy Nature by letting it Go Natural, then let the fires burn from Lightning, Lightning is organic!
Make laws and rules, no more fun,its illegal. Ca is going down the tubes fast.
I am shocked!
Shocked I tell you!
Once again Tom McClintock does not have anything good to say about our native species. He only wants to help Big Business. Tom McClintock is not good for California or the United States of America.
Tom and his Tea Party are what shut down Yosemite National Park. Rim Fire was nothing but smoke compared to the havoc the Tea Party caused on purpose by shutting down our Federal Government. Tom got paid but shut down the USA. Vote Tom McClintock out of office. Tom has his Russian Tea Party Clone Igor trying to get elected by all the TeaBaggers in Rancho Cordova. I could not believe the Russian telling tall tale stories of how much he loves America all the while advocating taking down our US Government. These two are not right for California. No Tom McClintock and Yes to Toads and Frogs.
I am personally sick of stepping in cowpies while I try to enjoy what is left of the Stanislaus NF. As far as fhe frog goes... I believe that we have forgotten that we share this Earth with many other creatures, and that we depend on them for our very survival. Our population has grown beyond what the planet can provide for us. Our avarice is destroying us; and opposition to saving our animal neighbors is a symptom of what is dragging us down. Protect the frogs.... Ranchers, loggers, and hunters have proven that what THEY want is the only important thing, and that they have no interest in conserving the forest for future generations. The proof is in how they "steward" their land. Look at it, blackend, and overgrazed. Clearly, consevation is not the primary concern in the Stanislaus.
Part of the reason many of us live here is so that we can enjoy the forest. Federal land is supposed to be for the people. My family and I respect the land and have fun getting away in the beauty. More and more it seems like "our" land is getting taken away. Too many law enforcement, locked gates, etc... People that cause no harm should be free in United States' Forests! The frog can live on as it is now - don't put more restrictions on people.
Agriculture is part of our economy. We all participate as end users when we go to the grocery store. Without it we would be in real trouble. Around 30% of our cattle industry depends upon public lands. Considering we are 80% public land in this county, that number may be higher. Many of our allotments on "our" forest precede the USFS and the cattle being run are a fraction of what they once were. The amount of land to be put out of production by the toad and frog is going to cost us all, at many levels.
When there were few people to "bother" the toads and frogs, they did well. Now, there are simply too many people for this earth to support.
The pressure of too many people resulted in these regulations by sensible government officials that we elected.
I suppose that all of you who support this are liberals, vegitarians , live in concrete homes and too blind to realize that once they close the forest you can't go there. You liberals know a lot of things but what you know is inaccurate and wrong.
Jewel, the 30% number is wrong.
This is a clip from the Government assessment:
"What percentage of US beef production relies, at least in part, on these western public rangelends? Well, this question is difficult to answer, in part because many western livestock owners use not only public but also private grazing lands, and because cattle spend various proportions of their feeding lives on the public lands. Suffice it to say, however, that the percentage is small (significantly less than 10%; probably between 2% and 4%)."
LocalJohn now people know how you feel about Liberals and Vegetarians. What about the frogs and toads? Do you care about the world or just sell it off to some foreign company. The forest products are going byebye gone.I think the Earth is out of balance John, there is no rain or snow and the glaciers are melted, Greenland Melted, Global Warming John. Our atmosphere is extremely thin and fragile. Cancer is rampant everywhere and all you do is whine about Liberals and people that eat green things that grow in the earth, instead of the factory animal meat stuff full of fat and chemicals and antibiotics that you eat everyday.
People that whine about Liberals usually change their tune when they get sick of the lies and the truth comes out. Stop watching Fox News. Try to learn something else.
Coiler, you and I agree on something else, stepping on cow turds on public land. Dry cow patties are yukky, but wet ones? Once my dog sat down to one of those like he was eating caviar and just about made me hurl. We often disagree here, but I'm thinking we'd probably be friends if we knew each other. Maybe we have other pet peeves in common? Columbiasmom, I agree. Too many people.
More people equals more regs and laws. Government nannyism is out of control, but population pressure drives this madness. Rural places are generally conservative and densely populated areas are liberal. Am I the only non-liberal who has made this connection?
Jewel, the problem isn't necessarily the number of animal units on public lands, it's when these hooved locusts overstay and damage the soil.
KAPCO, no, it wasn't the environmental whackos that ruined it for you. It was irresponsible forest management for over 100 years. That has lead us to this problem. Let's put the blame where it lies. No liberal, cut down the "5th growth" and never let any one of those growths get mature. It wasn't any liberal that over grazed the land, so it cannot support native species. I do no know of any liberal that walked into a public forest with a drip torch and started a "prescribed burn". A burn that quickly turned into a wildfire, because our worked over forest is nothing but a bunch of ladder fuels, waiting to take the fire into the canopy, or lack there of. No, the problem is not liberals, looking out for the forest. The problem is over zealous "foresters" who think they know what's "best".
rider... I would be happy to call you my friend. I am sure we ALL have something we agree on here. Things like Tom McClintock's pay (and all other legislators' compensation) for one!!
Frogs and Toads, tasty.
