They will have built the new "McDonald's" from the ground up in the same amount of time. Why does anything to do with the government take so long and cost so much?
Skidmoore - how many thousands of McDonalds have been built in the last 30 years? You think they could put one together in a few days from modular parts. Maybe it takes longer because they have to import hundreds of pounds of old grease to make it all taste the same.
They shouldn't shut down for repairs. Just have a couple of guys and work around it. This is totally lame. If I'm ever elected king, a lot of people are getting fired at the top of everything.
If the DMV were a little more customer oriented they would have provided a minimum -- like a person at a desk in a temporary trailer. If someone needs his license renewed, is he expected to stop driving? At least he could apply for a two-month grace period.
If the DMV has no respect for the people, why should people have any respect for the DMV?
This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. How are seniors supposed to get somewhere over an hour away or use a computer if they don't know how? You mean no one can do this work on the weekends or after hours. Just another stupid government decision.
Hopefully they'll send the displaced workers to some of the other offices to help alleviate some of the wait times that the closure may cause.
WOW and for those who are elderly ect who don't own computers, have transportation to get to another town to get what they need. WOW go DMV. Lucky for me I won't need your services in that time. I really feel bad for those who will though. You would think they would put up a temp office to help those here.
They remodeled the Jackson office last year.

There are more problems at the Sonora DMV than just the facility. AAA provides much better service it's too bad they have limited procedures. More DMV options need to be contracted out.
After a obscene amount of tax dollars spent not so long ago for the new Gestapo office and it needs more $$$$ ?
Government waste at it's best.
Most private sector places will undergo construction and still conduct business as usual. As usual, government inconveniences the people paying them through their taxes. Why would they require a separate verbal exam room?
The whole interior is modular...shouldn't take more than a day or 2 for a civilian project manager to remodle the whole place.
I have had wonderful interactions at the Sonora DMV for 27 years. When my husband went in to turn in his license and get an I.D. card @80 each person treated him with respect. They gave him positive feedback on making the right choice. I think that is the kind of personal service they provide. No matter what happens,I'll never forget their kindness at a big life changing moment.
zibhammad ...why all the anger? I think the comment's prove that the vast majority of the commentors agree with me not you. And no need to name call. Just state your opinion.
Apologies for not catching the name calling before the comment was posted. It was modified.
Seems kind of pointless. Place seemed to work just fine the way it was.
