The Chamber of Commerce is not an organization representing any community. It's an organization that represents the BUSINESSES of a community. A community includes all people and often times what's good for business is not good for the community as a whole. So it's misleading and inaccurate that the Sonora Chamber of Commerce claims it represents the entire Sonora community--its primary function is to represent business interests.
Lets see, should I accept that rosedoc knows more about the Chamber or that the Chamber knows more about itself.
I have approached the Chamber in the past with business questions. I was paired with a retired business executive who HELPED me figure out some important business issues for FREE.
That information helped me grow my business and hire workers. That money given to workers was spent in the community helping others make money.
Perhaps dropping "Historic" from this Chamber of Commerce isn't in its best interest. In doing so, it becomes more confusing to discern between the organization to promote business: the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce.
I agree, It's extremely misleading and unnecessary. The TCCC as well as the TCVB already are covering both aspects, of what the Sonora Chamber claims to be doing. It seems to me that they didn't have enough control so they started their own group... The TCCC has been a huge asset to our community and its very confusing for the historic group, I mean the the Sonora group to continue bashing the TCCC. Ethics are extremely important and seem to be lacking...
