How steep will the ramps be, and will the merge lanes be long enough? Already local drivers can't or won't get up to speed on the existing steep ramps and do not understand the concept of merging into traffic. The result are slugs of slow moving vehicles that significantly slow the through drivers on the bypass sections down to 40 or 45 mph creating a hazard. Don't make it worse.

It would be good get rid of stop light and have ramps instead.
Total agreement with zibhammad. Somehow we need to help people understand that that section is the highway and highway speeds NEED to be reached to avoid accidents. I've nearly had accidents there myself due to people refusing to go faster than 45 when others are trying to enter the highway. This is very dangerous and if they don't wish to accelerate to highway speeds, they need to stay on the smaller roads.
I could not believe it on my way to Sonora at noon. People (including a bus with people)are actually pulling over to the side of the road on the new bypass near the high overpass to take advantage of the steep slopes so their kids can slide down them. It looked like another Little Sweden and I passed a CHP vehicle that had just passed it and apparently did nothing to make people move. Aren't the pull-off areas suppose to be for emergency only!!!!! Just watch the garbage start gathering as these idiot people leave their trash behind. I thought I did see someone with a Bar-b-que going. Guess we need to put "NO PARKING AT ANY TIME" signs up. More taxpayer dollars because of some fools.
Let's not "mess with perfection". They just finished all that construction and now we are all supposed to endure ripping it up again, just for a merge lane? I am over the whole "bypass" thing. In the end that road has only become another two lanes on Mono Way. Rarely do I achieve a speed close to the limit going up, or down that road; thanks to the most part caused by people driving 35-45 mph, lumbering log trucks or the fact I have to sit through two or three stop lights within 300 ft to access it. Lets drop the roads and get the trains up and running. Adding more lanes is just that, just adding more lanes. Cars are the problem, not the volume of lanes.
