Being a home owner on S. Stewart St. the traffic and parking problems were alleviated when you relocated the Probation Dept. to the temporary facility.
S. Stewart St is a narrow, high traffic street that is a thorough fare for the fire Department. I feel it is a safety issue among other points. There is not sufficient parking for the employees, let alone their clients. We can't even park in front of our own homes. The people who are on probation come to check in, park in driveways, or block driveways and are not respectful to our neighborhood.
It would be advantages to the city of Sonora to relocate the Probation Dept. permanently to another area, to help enhance the South downtown area.
it's a tight squeeze to say the least!
wouldn't it be wonderful if we didn't need a probation dept...just me dreaming
I wholeheartedly agree with LKP. Not sure whose brilliant idea it was to put the probation department in the downtown area, sharing the same parking/traffic/walking/browsing areas as tourists/visitors/locals. I know it's an element of society that will always be around, but downtown where we're trying to put our best foot forward? I believe some rethinking the decision to move it permanently to the Hospital Rd area should be in order.
