The loss of a home to fire is always sad. This is especially true during the cold holiday season. Residents living in a single wide mobile are most likely pretty low on the financial pyramid and probably didn't have insurance. Perhaps MML can post an address to help.
Is there agency assisting ? How would I contact them ? for this specific incident
Just for the sake of conversation, you can buy a moblehome a doublewide in a park in Sonora for $5,000
If this is whose house I am thinking of...they really could use all the help anyone would be willing to give.
I agree, Crockett. And their cat died too. :(
Thanks Crocket for your comments. I do know this person personally and the mobile was a total lost and she doesn't have insurance. She was still in shock when I spoke to her earlier. The Red Cross is putting her up for 4 days then not sure what's going to happen. She is very low income. I'm praying for her and will know more when she goes over there tomorrow. If any people have anything they would like to donate to her to help her get through this hard time they can drop of at Christopher's Ristorante in down town Sonora and ask for Heather I'm the dinning room manager. If any one has any advice that would be greatly appreciated.
Sonora Red Cross will get the money to the person affected call 533-1513 located on Mono Way at 13669 Mono Way. As Per Fire Captain Mike Spear
The Red Cross cannot take donations earmarked for individuals. Due to confidentiality Red Cross can only take your name and contact information and pass it on the affected person. Per Red Cross Sonora Office
I imagine she is getting now sleep. Fears of being an elderly homeless person on the street..plus her pet to care for. it's a nightmare that is becoming all too common today. YET we care for the scum in our society better than we do for people who really deserve our help.
It's an indictment of our society today. An indictment of our steadily growing culture of ENTITLEMENT.
Would you rather help a druggies who could care less about where the money comes from or someone like this?
I know where my money would go.
I have an idea. Let's open up the rest of the old hospital and convert it to one room housing for people like this. I believe most of those rooms have bathrooms?
I believe the upper floors are not being used.
As for the state or feds saying it's not earthquake spec I have only this rebuttal.
@So you would rather them homeless than have a room to sleep in?@
What do you think people?
set aside a few hundred thousand for repair or improvments and let them rent if they can or live there under some type of guidance (like an apt. monitor).
a mini fridge...a basic kitchen ..a small bathroom or communal one.
For rent I would make it very low...about 300? (if they have any money).
Just think about it.
Wouldn't you rather this lady have something, than living on the street?
Makes me sick when I see old people rooting through dumpsters in sonora...
My heart breaks at the sight of it.
