This winter will be one for the history books. The prediction is for a very long, very wet and very cold beginning in November and lasting through spring in April & May. As much as possible the USFS should get in there and set up silt fence, waddles and do hydro-seed by ground and by air. The early rains will be lite enough to germinate seedlings enough to hold the soil. Failing to act would be a crime. They should then prepare timber sales for spring and summer.
Let nature run its course. Fires are not new to this area. The long-term value of the forest is much greater than the short-term value of the lumber. Use this wildfire as a basis for using prescribed fire from now on.
