"The advisory status remains in effect for Tuolumne City, Ponderosa Hills and the south side of the Highway 108 corridor, from Soulsbyville to Mi Wuk - Sugar Pine.
Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Scott Johnson says they are now extending the advisory up the south side of Highway 108 corridor to Pinecrest."
So it remains in effect for the south side of 108 from Soulsbyville to Mi-Wuk Sugar Pine and they're extending it on the south side of 108??? Did you mean they're extending it to the NORTH side?
What about Camp Hi Sierra? It's below Pinecrest.
@FormerCityGirl Hwy 108 runs east-west, and all of the town you named are on the south side of 108. Pinecrest is further up 108, still on the south side. "Up" doesn't mean north.
Highway 108 primarily runs from west to east, so they are referring to all of the small communities that are south of the highway from Soulbyville to Pinecrest. The early advisory only went as far east as MiWuk Village. The new advisory extends along the south side of 108 to include Long Barn and Odd Fellows. What is not included is Twain Harte - that lies north of 108. The fire is continuing to run up the Forest land to the east, and the threat is to those remote subdivisions south of the Highway that are in direct contact with the Forest lands.
If I am reading that correctly, the advisory is continuous from Soulsbyville to Pincrest, for the entire south side of Highway 108. I see no more mention of Willow Springs, so I guess they are off the hook for now.
They way I read it is everything from Mi Wuk to Pinecrest on the South side of Highway 108 is under evacuation advisory. Including Tuolumne City, Ponderosa hills and Soulsbyville. Is a big area, but sounds like this wildfire is unpredictable and they decided to advise ALL of the potential area's that might be effected. They do this to get people ready and let anyone with possible special needs, whether medical, or mobility issues or whatever it might be, get a head start on preparing to leave.
It means they have extended the evacuation advisory further up the south side of 108 to Pinecrest now, not stopping in Sugar Pine/Mi Wuk area.
I was having a hard time figure it out as well.
What they're saying is that it's just being extended up higher, but still on the south side.
The south side of 108 would be on the right side of the road as you drive up to Pincecrest. I see the sign for Camp Hi Sierra all of the time but just can't place it.
Tuolumne. Not Tuolumne CIty.
We are using the term Tuolumne City to avoid confusion with Tuolumne County. The town is officially: Tuolumne, CA 95379
Thanks all for the clarification. I still get confused with some areas here. I had tried to find a map with those names but wasn't able to... so thanks, I get it now!
