I am a residential customer in Copperopolis and my current bill every two months is $214.00. I called CCWD months ago to see what I could do to lower my bill and they told me this is the MINIMUM payment for residents in my area. This is far higher than any rate I know of in the bay area and we're closer to the water source! Now I'm told my rates are going up 57% in the next 3 years. Do the math!!!! For an organization that needs more money they wasted no time moving into a nice new building. I'm sure the supervisers got bigger offices to boot. We need to recall these guys, picket their building. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ALREADY!!!
New Building, New Rate Hike.......What's Next?????
I attended the CCWD's Town Hall Meeting in Copperopolis to express my disgust with the new rate hikes. I was surprised to hear that the Board Members are not required to live in the district they represent, but was absolutely shocked to hear that they are not even required to live in CCWD's coverage area! There is a Board Member who lives (and owns rental property) in Angels Camp, which has its own water utility company! No wonder these people feel free to jack up our bills. Oh, and the new General Manager lives in El Dorado County. By the way, where's the final count on the protest letters? Inquiring minds want to know...
